Saba Qamar is a famous Pakistani television and film actress who rose to fame after her debut in the TV show Main Aurat Hoon in 2005. In 2015, she made her first cinematic Pakistani debut with Sarmad Khoosat directorial Manto where she played the lead character of Noor Jehan, a famous Pakistani singer (aka queen of melody). Her career was already well established in Pakistani television and film industry until she stepped into Bollywood with the blockbuster film Hindi Medium opposite actor Irfan Khan. After she made her first Bollywood debut, her career took to glaring heights and today she is famously known worldwide for her talent and beauty. With immense success beaming on her way, the 34-years old is today the highest-paid Pakistani actress. Let’s check out more about her below.


Saba was born on 5th April, 1984 in Hyderabad, Sindh in Pakistan. As of today, she is 34 years old.

Saba has a slim and tall stature of 5’7″ and weighs around 54Kg. Her eye and hair color is black and she has a curvaceous figure of 34-28-34. She is a firm believer in working out in order to stay fit. Saba follows an extremely active lifestyle in order to maintain her shape and health.

Saba was born into a middle class Sindhi family in Hyderabad, Pakistan. She lost her father at an extremely young age after which she shifted to Gurjanwala with her mother, grandmother and five siblings. Her mother was not supportive of Saba’s acting career initially because her family was quite conservative. “In my family, women rarely go out with their heads uncovered, so there was considerable opposition regarding my choice of career,” said Saba in an interview. Eventually, her mother got the hang of her daughter’s talented performances in television soaps and started supporting her. She currently resides in Karachi with her family.

After Saba moved to Gurjanwala with her mother and grandmother, she completed her entire schooling from there. She then shifted to Lahore in order to pursue under graduation. As a school and college going student, Saba was always keen to participate in plays and theatre. And thus, she embarked on her journey to become a successful actress, which she is today.


Saba is one of the highest paid actresses in Pakistani film industry. She ventured into the world of acting with television and gradually moved to the silver screen. Saba is a prolific actress and extremely dedicated when it comes to her work. “I’m hyperactive when it comes to work. I actually have a hard time dealing with holidays because I’m always dying to get back to work,” stated the 34 year-old in an interview. As an actress, she is always looking for new roles in her way. She just doesn’t want to work for money but actually wants to bring about a change in the status of women through acting. “There is more to life than saas bahu issues with women being portrayed as petty characters and their own worst enemies. I would love to do something different…I’m dying to act in a production that can change mindsets,” remarks the actress.

Saba’s family was unsupportive of her acting career initially. She was suggested by her sister’s friend to try her luck at acting as she had the looks and potential of an actor. Saba’s debut happened in the year 2005 with the show Mein Aurat Hoon by PTV production. This show was the turning point in Saba’s life as after this show, she continued to appear in supporting roles in shows like  Dhoop May Andhera Hai, Chaap, Kanpur Se Katas Tak and Unbiyaanable. Her claim to fame came in 2007, when she played leading role Jinnah Ke Naam and Khuda Gawah, remake of 1992 Indian film of the same name. Saba played the lead of Fatima Jinnah in the show Jinnah Ke Naam which was a tribute to Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Although the show didn’t do well, Saba still managed to receive a Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress.

In 2009, Saba was the host and presenter on the political satire Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain where she did parody of several Pakistani politicians.

Saba’s major breakthrough came with the TV show Dastaan in 2010,  where she played the supporting role of Surraya Saleem. The show was based on Razia Butt’s novel Bano and was set during the pre-partition and post-partition times. Her perfect depiction of class struggles in the show earned Saba her first Pakistan Media Awards for Best TV Actress. Right after Dastaan, Saba’s role as Zarish in the TV show Tinkay (2011) made her a household name and earned her several accolades. Her next major critical and commercial hit was the TV show Bint e Adam (2011). Saba played the lead role of Zainab, a spoiled elite girl who falls in love with a poor boy and marries him against her father’s intentions. This show earned Saba several accolades to her name including the prestigious PTV Awads for Best Actress.

Saba then appeared on Hum TV’s hit show Pani Jaisa Piyar in 2011, where she played the lead character of Sana who falls in love with Adarsh. Apart from this, in the same year Saba appeared on shows like MaatJo Chale To Jaan Se Guzar Gaye, Main Chand Si, Tera Pyar Nahi Bhoole, Tere Ik Nazar and Miss Fire. Her portrayal of Saman, a selfish and self-obsessed girl earned her another Pakistan Media Award for Best Actress. Sana played in the lead roles in all the other shows and her performance was profoundly appreciated by critics and the audience.

In 2012, Saba appeared in shows like Thakan, Na Kaho Tum Mere Nahi, Yahan Pyar Nahin Hai and Shehryar Shehzadi. She gained appreciation and recognition for her portrayal of lead roles in all these shows which garnered her with several awards and nominations. In 2013, Saba starred in few shows like Kaash Aisa Ho, Sannata and Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi which were all poorly received at the box office.

In 2014, Saba made her major comeback with hit shows like Jaanam, Bay Emaan Mohabbat, Bunty I Love You, Izteraab, and Digest Writer. Jaanam and Bunty I Love You were her major commercial and critical hits after Maat. In Bunty I Love You, Saba played the role of Dania, a 17 year old girl who is married to an older man and dreams of living a life of freedom after her husband’s death. The show was very well received and earned Saba several accolades to her name. Her portrayal of Dania was even considered as her best work by several critics.

In 2015, Saba starred in shows like Kaisay Tum Se Kahoon, S.H.E and Sangat. Her performance of S.H.O Bajirao Mastani in S.H.E and Anumta in Kaisay Tum Se Kahoonwas very appreciated and the shows were praised by critics. Her third performance in 2015 in the show Sangat earned her Best Actress nomination for Hum Awards where she played a rape survivor.

In 2016, Saba starred in the shows Mein Sitara where she played the title character of Sitara/Suraiya and then starred in BesharamSaba’s portrayal of Mishi in Besharam was appreciated for her “restraint” and “powerful character.

In 2017, Saba featured in the biographical drama series Baaghi where she played the late character of Pakistani social media star, Qandeel Baloch. Saba bagged a lot of accolades for her acting skills in the controversial drama Baaghi. She broke the stereotypical acting roles by depicting Qandeel Baloch in the show. The show became a commercial and critical hit and became one of the highest-grossing Pakistani dramas of 2017. Saba also won a Lux Style Award and an IPPA Award for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in the show.


In the same year she also appeared in the show Main Manto where she played the character of Noor Jehan. The show focused on the last years of acclaimed writer, Sadat Hassan Manto. As of 2019, Saba is working in the show Cheekh opposite Bilal Abbas Khan. Cheekh showcases an out-of-the box kind of the love story between the duo.

Saba’s first film debut was with Aina (2013) where she played the role of Rita, a daughter of a business tycoon, who falls in love with a poor hotel receptionist, Nadeem (payed by Faisal Qureshi). Saba was appreciated for her performance in the film and she was even nominated for a  Tarang Housefull Award for Best Actress. It was with her second film, Manto (2015), with which Saba established herself in the film industry. Although, the movie failed at the box office, Saba’s performance was thoroughly praised and it even earned her a nomination for the  ARY Films Awards for Best Supporting Actress.

Her next film, Lahore Se Aagey (2016) became one of the  highest-grossing Pakistani films of all time with a gross of Rs 21.60 crore. Saba played the role of an upcoming rockstar, Tara in the film. In the same year, Saba made a brief appearance in the psychological thriller film 8969.

In 2017 came Saba’s biggest breakthrough of her career with the Bollywood film Hindi Medium in which she starred opposite Irfan Khan. The film became an international hit and grossed ₹334.36 crore worldwide. Saba’s affluent character of Mithu, struggling to adjust to the lives of poor in order to get her daughter admitted to a top school in Delhi, was praised by critics for her “sheer delightfulness.” Saba also received nominations for Best Female Debut at Screen Awards, Best Actress at Filmfare Awards and was declared top Bollywood debutant of 2017 by Eastern Eye. Reportedly, Saba was also offered roles in films like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2012) and Heroine (2012) because at that time, she had no intentions of entering Bollywood.

In 2018, Saba was seen in three films:  Moomal Rano, Dil Diyan Gallan, and Iss Dil Ki Essi Ki Tessi. Saba was as usual appreciated for her performance in these films and her film Moomal Rano was also nominated for Best film at the 2018 European festival.

Saba has walked the ramp for Pakistani designers like Mahid Khawar, Nilofer Shahid, Rimple and Harpreet Narula and Uzma Babar.

Saba often voices her opinions on social causes and has been vocal for child rights for a long time now. In 2018, she starred in Shuja Haider’s music video, titled Jeevan Daan to raise awareness about child abuse in Pakistani society.


2011– Saba won the PTV Award for her role in Tinkay in the category of Best Actress (Jury and Viewers). She also won the Lux Style Award for the same show in the category Best TV Actress (Terrestrial). For her role is Dastaan, she won the Pakistan Media Award for Best Supporting Actress.

2012– Saba won the PTV Award for Best Actress (Jury) for her role in Tera Pyar Nahi Bhoole. For her role in Pani Jaisa Pyar, she won the Lux Style Award in the categories Best TV Actress (Terrestrial) and Satellite Best TV Actress.

2013– She won the Pakistan Media Awards for Best Actress for her role in Maat.

2015-Saba won a Hum Award for Best Actress for her role in Bunty I Love You.

2016– She won the Galaxy Lollywood Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Manto. She also received the prestigious civilian award, Pride of Performance from the Pakistani government, for her role in Manto.

2017– Saba won the ARY Viewers Choice Awards for Best Actress in Besharam.

2018– Saba won the Masala! Award for her role in Hindi Medium in the category Breakthrough Performance of the Year. For the same movie, she even won the Bollywood Film Journalist’s Awards for Best Actress. For her role in Baaghi, Saba won the Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress and an IPPA Award for Best Actor Female Drama.

When it comes to her love life, the actress likes to keep mum. In 2018, she had posted pictures on her Instagram handle with a guy after which, it was speculated that the duo was dating and were soon to be married. She soon cleared the air with another Instagram post saying, “Guys relax! I’m not getting married anytime soon. So please stop spreading this rumour about me. Live and let live.” Eventually, Saba took the pictures down to avoid further speculations.
