For many the idea of motorcycles and the ultimate dream to buy one started with watching Arnold ride in as the Terminator. Those wide handles and the revving sound heightened our senses and brought to many, motorcycle goals.

Bajaj was the first to introduce a cruiser into the Indian markets and was quick to steal the hearts of these very people. The Avenger was every man’s boyhood crush come to life. Let’s checkout this heartthrob out or more specifically the 150 Street rereleased in 2015.

Bajaj already had three 150cc motorcycles under its belt when it released the infamous Avenger. It was released in two variants, the Cruise and Street. The difference in the two from first glance stems from its look and further in the internal tinkering.

On releasing major focus was put into making a motorcycle suitable for both city and long-distance use. Because of the fame the Avenger garnered and some minor errors that needed rethinking, in 2015Avenger was re-released in Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220 variants. With new features galore, the Avenger was out to steal hearts again.

Features

The re-released Avenger 150 street seems to have a striking resemblance to Harley Davidson’s similar named motorcycle, the Street 750. The city environment adaptability has been improved with the introduction of lower and flatter handlebar aids.

Some notable features of the motorcycle are its alloy wheels,rubber bellows on the front forks and a matte finish over the engine putting off a sporty attire over it. The characteristic growl of a cruiser is reached by using a high bass exhaust and softer cushions have been implemented to give comfort for the rider.

With a 150cc single-cylinder twin-spark engine, derived from the Pulsar 150, the power has been downgraded to 14.3bhp while the torque has ben increased to 12.5Nm to give the Avenger 150 the cruiser engine characteristic. With a full tank and the promised specifications especially the 14-ltr engine, the Avenger 150Street can easily give close to 600kms.

The brake setup uses a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear meanwhile upgrading the rear tire to increase comfort and ride quality. A 130/90 tubeless tire for a 15-inch rear wheel and a 90/90 tubeless for the 17-inch front wheel.

The console has an analog speedometer and fuel meter while having a digital meter too. This about covers what the Avenger 150 Street offers to us which is a lot for the typical bike enthusiasts around.

Customer Reviews

Some problems seen with the Avenger are the parts which seem to wear out shortly. Furthermore the service promised is not up to mark according to some  customers. The look of the bike is what pulls the crowd and the users have felt the design grow on them.

Verdict

The Cruiser is a kind of motorcycle that turns heads and brings appreciating glances just with a rev. The Avenger has managed to bring that emotion to Indian roads and have improved upon previous models aiming for perfection. The Avenger 150 Street is a complete package and will definitely grow on you.
