When Greg Daniels, the creator of The Office came up with Space Force, fans of the latter was extremely excited (although saying excited would be an understatement). The show’s cast also included the star of The Office, Steve Carrel and that really got the fans riled up, excited to see what Space Force had in store for them! The show follows the story of a group of people who are tasked with establishing the U.S.
Space Force, something which Mark Naird, a 4-star general (played by Steve Carrell) finds ridiculously impossible.Unfortunately, a lot of them were disappointed and that was mostly because they were expecting Space Force to be comparable to The Office which was a mistake. Space Force is a great show on its own, and to be honest, nothing can possibly compare to The Office.

Filmed in the style of a mockumentary, it follows the story of the employees in an average paper-selling company called Dunder-Mifflin, under the irredeemable, yet lovable manager, Michael Scott (the star of the show, Steve Carell).
The show definitely has darker humour and it’s not the most politically correct, but their intent was to create an offensive show that mocks the typical office setting complete with disgruntled employees, suck-ups, moral police, and of course, the uncomfortable boss. The show definitely succeeds to create this portrayal and has become one of the most loved TV shows so far!
While we know that Space Force and The Office aren’t comparable in any way, Steve Carell’s amazing performances in both the shows makes this iconic series a must-watch, if you haven’t already binged on it yet! We definitely think you’re going to love it!
Veep:

Next on our list, we have Veep, a political satire that aired in 2012 and has since produced 7, multi-Emmy-winning seasons. The show’s star, Julia-Louis Dreyfus is a familiar face from the sitcom, Seinfeld where she played the role of Elaine and really made her way into our hearts!
Veep follows the story of Selina Meyer, a former senator in the United States of America who gets a chance to be the vice president of the country. The show sees her trying to prevent chaos from happening all while juggling her public and private personas.
The show is excellent, and we’d recommend it to anyone who wants to watch literally anything, but since you loved Space Force, this is one show that you should not miss. The satire, the comedy, the dark humor, the politics, and the eclectic mix of characters all make the show the masterpiece it is, and we think you’re definitely going to enjoy watching it!
Silicon Valley:

Next up we have Silicon Valley, a show set in- well, as the name suggests, Silicon Valley, following the lives of Richard, a programmer who makes an app called Pied Piper, and 5 other programmers who are trying to stay afloat in the highly competitive environment of Silicon Valley.
Another show by HBO on this list, Silicon Valley, like Space Force, takes very real characters and situations and makes them into a fictional show that is hilarious and exposes the real-life circumstances that people go through in exaggerated ways.
The completed show came out in 2014 and produced 6 seasons, coming to an end sometime in 2019, so if you’re looking for a show that you won’t have to wait for, go for Silicon Valley because the quirky humour and entertaining flow of events will keep you hooked till the very end!

Bringing back another sci-fi comedy series by HBO, we have Upload, a 2020 release that came out with its first 10-episode season right before the lockdown came into full-swing, giving people something fun to watch with all the extra time on their hands!
The light-hearted show is set in the fully-digitalised future, complete with self-driven cars, and food printers, and also one very important device that is the centre of focus in the show- a portal that allows people to upload their memories into the cloud.
The show follows the story of Nathan, who gets to choose his afterlife after his untimely death.The interesting storyline, the unique humour, and the great supporting characters really make this show stand out and it is definitely worth a watch!
Avenue 5:

HBO seems to be on a roll with space-related shows, because apart from Space Force, they also came out with Avenue 5 in 2020, a sci-fi comedy series that follows the story of Ryan Clark, the controlled and personable captain of a space cruise ship who tries to do his best to get along with everyone when the ship veers off course, turning a journey that was supposed to last only a few weeks into one that could possibly last for years.
The show has a greater focus on the sci-fi aspects, but is really funny anyway, and has a protagonist probably just as charismatic as Mark Naird from Space Force. The show is often compared to The Orville which we will be introducing to you next, and while some people claim it isn’t as funny, it is most definitely entertaining and will be a nice, smooth, easy watch after Space Force, so we certainly think it is worth a try!

As we promised in the description of the previous show on our list, we bring to you The Orville! Space travel is really a theme on this list, and The Orville, released in 2017, follows the story of a space-ship crew who embark on a journey 400 years into the future where they run into a whole lot of dangerous situations.
The show, like Avenue 5, is centered on sci-fi but has its own unique humor that makes it that much more endearing to its watchers. There’s a lot of more philosophical questions that the series raises so if you’re someone who likes a well-rounded blend of genres in their shows, The Orville is the perfect show for you!
The show has produced a couple of seasons and is definitely coming back for the third, something which is definitely good news to the loyal fans! So, if you enjoyed the Space Force, and are looking for that nice blend, go for The Orville because it is sure to keep you entertained!

Next on our list is Community! Taking a little break from the space theme we’ve been going with for the past couple of shows on the list, we have Community, which is a refreshing show set in possibly the worst (the very worst) community college in America.
With an endless list of oddballs that are just as endearing as they are plain weird (apart from a couple which you’ll find out when you watch the show!), Community is a cult classic with an interesting sense of humor that will definitely appeal to you as well, if you’re someone who liked Space Force, and The Office, and other shows of the like.
There’s also no specific romantic angle to the show, something which shows about college don’t really go without, and the difference kind of comes like a relief. Overall, the diverse characters, the unique storytelling, and the niche humour provide you with a show that can very possibly be your next favorite!
Parks And Recreation:

Nearing the end of our list, we bring to you Parks and Recreation, a show that actually gained inspiration from The Office, so if you’re someone who enjoyed Space Force as well as The Office, this show is a great pick for you!
Parks and Recreation also star a lesser-features character from The Office- Karen, so there’s a familiar face to look out for! Apart from that, one of the show’s creators is Greg Daniels, so there are some similarities that are bound to come through.
The show follows the story of Leslie Knope, a mid-level bureaucrat who tries to help a local nurse named Ann (Rashida Jones, Karen from The Office), convert a disused construction site into a community park but faces a lot of obstacles in the form of red-tape-ism and self-centered neighbors on the way.
The sitcom ran for 7 seasons, starting in 2009 and has a loyal fanbase. The humour, the sentiment, and the story really make it stand out and make it a show that you really can’t miss.

Brooklyn 99:

Ending our list with another perfectly amazing show, we have Brooklyn 99, that perfectly non-problematic show that can give you everything you ask for! There’s humour, there’s romance, there’s friendship, there’s fun, and there’s a little bit of mystery as well since after all, it is a show about cops! On top of that, they have a wonderful cast made up of people from diverse races and ethnicities, and in an industry where we strive to see diversity, Brooklyn 99 is perfect.
This series follows the main character, Jake Peralta, a very talented but equally immature NYPD detective. His life at the 99th Precinct continues as smooth as ever (as he could do whatever he liked) until a new captain takes over: Captain Raymond Holt, someone is very rule-based and likes order. This feel-good show is such a laugh and after a workplace comedy like Space Force, we think you’ll definitely enjoy it!
