10 Best Shows To Watch If You Like Supernatural in 2024

BEST SHOWS LIKE SUPER NATURAL

If you’re someone who likes dealing with and watching supernatural storylines, this show of the same name has bound to have popped up on your favorites list! And what a great show too! The show has been extremely engaging, coming up with story after story as it follows the journey of two brothers Dean and Sam Winchester, as they follow in their father’s footsteps and aim to rid the world of dark forces.

Supernatural has practically been going on forever, and ever since its origin in 2005, it has kept on birthing new episodes and now, 15 years later, they’re still far from done!

The last episode however is set to take place this year, so their 15-year era is finally coming to an end after 15 popular seasons, and if you’re a fan, we’re sure you’re feeling a little down in the dumps. But don’t stay that way for too long because we’ve put together a list of shows that you can watch next!

Here Is A List Of  Some Amazing Shows Like Supernatural:

The X Files

THE X FILES show poster.jpg

Available on Amazon prime

I think this iconic show has got to be the first on our list, and there’s a chance that you’re already seen this before, considering how popular it is in the arena of shows with supernatural themes! But, if by any chance you haven’t watched The X Files, we suggest you go watch it as soon as you’re done with Supernatural!

Having aired their first episode in 1993, way before Supernatural, this show can easily be considered the OG spooky show! It follows around the popular, good-looking duo made up of conspiracy theorists Fox Mulder and realist Dana Scully who snoop around to solve mysteries that go beyond the FBI and the tangible aspects of life.

There’s definitely a lot of paranormal activity in this show that’s going to keep you entertained, and when you add some detectives and crime into the mix, you’ve got yourself a pretty damn fabulous show! If you loved Supernatural, we’re 100% sure you’ll love The X Files!

The Vampire Diaries

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

Next on our list, we have a show that came much after and is definitely more popular among teens and young adults. A show that first aired in 2009, The Vampire Diaries went on for a whopping total 9 years, ending their last episode in 2017.

It follows the story of Elena, who, on entering high school feels a strange, unexplainable connection to Stefan. Something she is still unaware about is that Stefan and his brother, Damon are actually vampires. The Vampire Diaries, as the name suggests, focuses on the family of vampires but also has multiple side stories featuring werewolves, witches, and other supernatural creatures.

This show is the perfect pick for you if you want to see things from the other perspective; following the stories of the supernatural characters rather than those who are on the hunt for them. Plus, it’s evident that a little supernatural romance goes a long way, so The Vampire Diaries is sure to keep you entertained with a little bit more drama!

 The Originals

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

Next up we have The Originals, and we just couldn’t leave this show out after mentioning The Vampire Diaries because this spin-off deals with the stories of side characters that don’t get enough spotlight.

The Originals follows the story of the Mikaelson family’s siblings, who were introduced in The Vampire Diaries, and the series sheds light on their return to New Orleans to regain control of the supernatural community present there.

Since we’re certain that you’re going to love The Vampire Diaries if you liked Supernatural, this spin-off will definitely be your cup of tea, considering it is actually more like Supernatural than The Vampire Diaries is in the first place. And if you’re someone who’s dying to know what happened to the characters from The Vampire Diaries, this is the show for you! And there are five seasons, so get your binge on!

 Buffy The Vampire Slayer

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

Continuing with the vampire theme, we have Buffy the Vampire Slayer up next. Honestly, there is no way anyone can mention Vampires without talking about this cult classic from the 90s. We’ve all heard the name, and if you’re into

vampires, you’ve probably watched it already, but in case you were introduced to the supernatural world much after the 90s and missed out on this show, there’s no better time to watch it! Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired from 1997 to 2003 and follows the story of Buffy, latest in the long line of slayers over the years; slayers being people appointed to rid the world of vampires, demons and other dark supernatural forces.

In terms of showing the narrative of the “slayers”, this show is definitely more in line with the plot of Supernatural. It even has a spin-off called Angel that we’ll talk about below so there’s a lot of content to keep you busy, and we’re sure you’re going to love it!

 Grimm

GRIMM show poster.jpg

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

Quite like the concept of a slayer, this show introduces us to characters known as Grimms, who are people appointed to protect the divide between the mortal world, and the world of mythical and mythological creatures (known as Wesen) that pose a threat to the former.

The show, Grimm, follows the story of a homicide detective, Nick Burkhardt, who realises he has the ability to see what other normal people cannot, and that is this world of monsters and mythological creatures.

He learns that people of his kind are called Grimms and that he is the latest in a long line of huntsmen, meant to protect the mortal world. After Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grimm will definitely fit the “hunter” narrative that we love in Supernatural, and we’re sure that if you enjoyed Supernatural, this show will keep you amused and engaged!

Angel

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

We mentioned this show before when we talked of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel is a spin-off of the popular show and follows the story of the Vampire that Buffy fell in love with; Angel.

First aired in 1999, the show goes on for 5 great seasons, showing Angel’s move to Los Angeles in search of a new start, only to be confronted with evil forces and demons that are very keen on bringing out his dark side.

Teaming up with a bunch of people with the same mind as him, we see the adventures and obstacles they face in their fight to stay true to their good side. We’ve seen the vampire narrative, and we’ve seen the hunter narrative, but it isn’t often that we get to see both as protagonists and part of the same overarching story.

Angel is definitely unique in that way, and will make a great watch after you’re done watching supernatural!

The Walking Dead

THE WALKING DEAD show poster.jpg

Available on Netflix | Amazon prime

The last show on our list is a little bit different but still a pretty good watch! Up until now, all the shows on our list have somewhat maintained the divide between the world of supernatural creatures and mortals, but with The Walking Dead, we’re offered an apocalypse that very much takes over the world of humans.

And there is also the fact that the zombies were originally humans, and aren’t particularly “supernatural”. Nonetheless, The Walking Dead, having spanned 10 seasons yet (it’s ongoing) follows the story of a group of survivors, who, under the wing of police officer Rick Grimes, look for a place where they can be safe from the throes of the zombie apocalypse.

While it is definitely different, it’s the kind of difference that is refreshing and therefore, welcomed. The Walking Dead makes for an enjoyable show that you’re definitely going to like if you’re open to something new!

And that ends our list! Tell us what you think of these suggestions, and if you feel like we’ve missed out on any shows, let us know!
