Over the garden wall is the first mini-series by Cartoon Network and although aired only 5 episodes, in the short white it established itself as equal to the classic- The Simpsons. The show follows the story of two half brothers, Greg (Collin Dean) and Wirt (Elijah Wood) as they try to find their way back home in a place called the ‘Unknown’.

With laughable moments and silly banter for children, the show also serves its adult audience, giving them something to read between the lines. The show constantly makes one want to escape the real world, traveling back and forth between reality and imagination.

The show is a subtle commentary on the escapist mindset of modern man, wishful thoughts to turn to a simpler time, or even as in this case, a simpler realm of reality.

Much like Steven who collaborates with the Gems to save the world, Powerpuff Girls has been a favourite among millennials- the first amongst its peers to change the definition of a ‘girly’ show. First created by Cragi McCracken when he was in college, Powerpuff Girls has been one of the greatest animated shows on television.

At a time when Cinderella, Ariel, and all the other delicate, frilled princesses wearing corsets and ball gowns adorned pencil boxes, Buttercup, Blossom, and Bloom were a gamechanger.

Their legacy remains to date. Sugar, spice, everything nice and a little Chemical X created them and we loved them till the last episode. Adored by both children and adults, the pop-culture references and humor is for a person of age 7 as well as 37.

In the show, the world is divided into for nations: the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads — each represented by a natural element for which the nation is named.

Benders from each nation possess the ability to manipulate elements from their respective nations. And there exists only one long-lost Avatar who has the ability to manipulate all four elements. Each nation wants him…what will be his fate?

The legend of Korra has been called by many, a show that changed the face of television forever. The show has been so dangerous in its approach that most of its last two seasons were aired online instead of on TV.

First is the racial representation, which shows its heroine lead as dark instead of the usual Caucasian complexion. Then comes the fact that it uses a female hero who indulges in action- something the investors were initially hesitant about.

Then comes in the political hints throughout the series. The dialogues between the characters and the storyline seem to be clearly aimed at the likes of George Bush, Hitler among others. Ultimately, the series is also influenced by Eastern Spiritual practices and portrays to its viewers the importance of balance and mindfulness.

*Spoiler Alert*

In the finale comes the ultimate weapon with the makers of the show, they portray the main heroine Korra and another major female character as disappearing together into the spirit portal.
