VERSAILLES

All of us have heard of the beautiful palace of Versailles, having studied it in school, or placing it on our travel lists, or just marvelling over the elegant architecture. This next show brings alive everything we’ve heard about the palace and takes us back to the reign of King Louis the XIV, a time when the palace was under construction.

The show perfectly captures the extravagant living of the ambitious king and his family, taking us on a journey filled with drama, mystery, multiple equally-engaging plots, interesting characters and a hell of a lot of fun!

If you’re someone looking for some good war scenes from the wars that happened in the 17th and 18th centuries, this might not be the best pick for you, but you’re definitely going to get a lot of the drama that was happening in Versailles at the time. And alternatively, if you want a break from war but still want the history, this is the perfect show for you!

  1. The Tudors

THE TUDORS

[ryvl video_url=”https://youtu.be/0w0aNWHLUOU” auto_play=”yes”]Click here to watch trailer of The Tudors[/ryvl]

A showtime drama focusing on the 40-year reign of King Henry, The Tudors is a very well-done historical series aimed at mirroring the life of King Henry and his relationships with several prominent people including his wives, Catherine of Argon and the famous Anne Boleyn.

While it’s definitely not the most accurate, it is more accurate than a lot of other historical dramas we see today. A condensing of characters takes place in order to narrow the focus and the narrative. Despite that, The Tudors remains a very engaging show which has also won several awards.

With 4 seasons, The Tudors aired from 2007 to 2010 making it one of the older shows on our list! A super interesting show that keeps us on our toes, The Tudor is definitely a good watch for when you’re missing The Last Kingdom!

And that brings us to the end of our list! Tell us what you think of these shows; binge-worthy or otherwise! Or if you feel like we’ve missed out on any good ones, feel free to let us know!
