Founded in 2013 by Sujayath Ali and Navaneetha Krishnan, Voonik is an online marketplace operating in products for women’s fashion comprising women’s kurti, salwar, western tops, jeans, dresses, sarees, gowns, jewellery, handbags and many other items. This Bangalore based company was initially launched as a personal mobile application before developing a website.
Voonik has a ‘lean’ marketplace business model which has registered retail stores showcasing their products. It gathers products from various merchants and does not carry inventory or manage the delivery of orders. As on June 2016, it offers 15 lakh products from about 15,000 sellers and has 450 employees working under its wings.
Some of its major acquisitions are TriaklKart Getsy, Styl, picksilk.com and Zohra.
Voonik is ahead of many of its competitors. Recently featured in Forbes list of Top 20 Startups to watch out for, it is the fastest growing fashion app in India, beating the likes of Craftsvilla and Limeroad. Their products are eye-catching, appealing and have a fine finish. Voonik clocks in an annual gross merchandise volume of more than $80 million, with over 10 million registered users and 8 million app downloads.
It has a futuristic outlook with an intention to create the shopping experience of the future NOW. Their Android app with a Tinder-like interface combines MADstack, a cloud-based suite of computer vision and AI modules and creates a highly advanced shopping experience for its customers. It works on an 10,000 rule algorithm containing various features such as object recognition, gesture recognition, emotion recognition etc which enable the users to find the right product suited to their customer´s skin tone, body type, lifestyle, preferences and budget.
Voonik has convenient payment gateways and customers can make their order payment either by Credit/Debit Card, Net-Banking or Cash on Delivery. Voonik also offers its customers various custom shipment modes such as air, cargo, sea and road.
