ModCloth is an American based online retailer of independent and vintage-inspired women’s apparel. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and has an office in Los Angeles along with a joint office/fulfillment center in Pittsburgh.

ModCloth was started in 2002 by Susan Gregg Koger and Eric Koger. Both were students at Carnegie Mellon University and launched ModCloth as an online site to offer used vintage dresses.

It is the fun, friendly destination for fashion and decor that’s as expressive and unique as you are! They also possess a curated collection of styles from numerous independent designers.

ModCloth.com is a rip-roaringly innovative, rapidly expanding e-tailer of vintage-inspired fashion and decor that’s out to change the way in which fashion is discovered, developed, and delivered. By using innovative technologies along with press-recognized social media, they’re creating a user-empowering platform that’s changing the face of social commerce.

It became a multi-channel retailer in 2015 when it started off its very first pop-up Fit Shop in Los Angeles, after that one more in San Francisco. ModCloth pop-up stores possess a selected collection of ModCloth clothing and home furnishings, as well as selected items from local artists.ModCloth uses these pop-up stores to promote existing online and social media services like the Style Gallery and  Fit for Me.

In the same year 2015, ModCloth took out the plus-size term from its website. The company’s decision was recognized by a ModClothsurvey, that figured that nearly two-thirds of women were uncomfortable to shop in a separate department for plus-labeled clothing. The plus-size clothes were then involved in the greater site making it shoppable through size filters.

The “plus-size” label has also been replaced by “extended sizes”, that will also consist of extra-small, petite, and tall clothing.

Founded in a college dormitory by high school sweethearts Susan Gregg Koger and Eric Koger in 2002, ModCloth has since grown to more than 400 employees across offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh.
