Ann Inc. is an American organization of niche clothing retailer for women. The company is headquartered in New York and presently operates as a subsidiary of Ascena Retail Group.

The store offers classic styled suits, dresses, separates, shoes, and accessories. The brand is marketed under five divisions: Ann Taylor, Loft, Lou & Grey, Ann Taylor Factory and Loft Outlet.

Richard Liebeskind, the Ann Taylor founder, opened his very first Ann Taylor store in 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut. "Ann Taylor" was basically the name of a best-selling outfit at Liebskind's father's store. Both the best-selling outfit and the name Ann Taylor were given by the father to his son, for good luck.

Liebeskind chose to proceed with the name Ann Taylor as Ann was considered a very New England name, and Taylor invoked the concept of tailored clothing. The name apparently created the ideal identity of classic women's apparel.

Subsequently, in March 2011, the company changed its name to Ann Inc., from Ann Taylor Stores Corporation. As of October 27, 2012, the total stores were 981: of 101 Ann Taylor Factory stores, 278 Ann Taylor stores, 92 Loft Outlet stores, and 510 Loft stores, as well as online at AnnTaylor.com and Loft.com.

Loft provides more comfortable fashions for work and home, within the "upper moderate" priced category. The collection provided at Loft initially was a more casual look-alike to that of the regular Ann Taylor. However, it has developed into its own brand and now carries a unique style to cater to younger & new crowd. Lou & Grey sells active-wear fashion.

Ann Taylor Factory delivers reduced prices and Ann Taylor Factory products. The company will now be leaving Ann Taylor Factory clearance outlets and therefore are changing their stores to keep Ann Taylor Factory products.

Loft Outlet, gives a Loft-based Outlet atmosphere, just like the existing Ann Taylor Factory stores, with exclusive LOFT Outlet products mirrored from well-known and best-selling LOFT product. There are currently 128 Loft Outlets throughout the U.S.
