Yes, it is a revised Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This is the first car that is launched by Toyota-Suzuki partnership on 6 June 2019. On the exteriors, changes are subtle. The grille has been changed and it now sports the Toyota logo, this looks different as everyone is habitual to see a Suzuki logo on the car. There are no design changes. The car will be available in two variants, G and V. Bookings have already started for the new Glanza across the 359 dealerships. This new Toyota-Suzuki entrant will be available only in a 1.2-liter petrol engine option with mild hybrid technology. 5-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT are the gearboxes on offer. The hatchback would comply to the BS-VI emission norms.
V-CVT, G-CVT, V-MT and G-MT are the variants currently on offer with ex-showroom prices 8.90 lakhs, 8.29 lakhs, 7.58 lakhs and 7.21 lakhs respectively. 21 kmpl is the expected fuel efficiency for the V-trim, while the G trim is expected to run 23 kilometer per liter. The CVT trim would yield a mileage of 19.56 kmpl.
On the outside, nothing has been changed except the front grille which now hosts a Toyota logo. But on the inside, Toyota offers a “Seamless Integration of Man-Machine Experience”. This includes the 7-inches Smart Playcast touchscreen audio. This system supports both, Android Auto and Apple Car play. It also includes features like the Push button start/stop and the smart entry. The car is available in five colors, namely sportin red, insta blue, enticing silver, café white and gaming grey. It has all the best in class features like the Automatic Temperature control, Auto dimming inside rear-view mirrors, follow me home headlamps, Auto Headlamps along with day time running lights and projector headlamps. Electric folding outside rear-view mirrors are also on offer which is premium touch.
The efficient and mild hybrid engines are expected to be fun to drive. These engines also have increased their fuel efficiency. The Heartect platform is expected to improve the NVH levels of the car making the cabin a better place to be in. The warranty offered on the Glanza would be more than that of the Suzuki Baleno. Also, both of these would be assembled on the same production line. The engine is expected to make 88 bhp at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm at 4400 RPM.
The Glanza would have a durable and strong built quality of a Maruti Suzuki and it would host premium quality of materials and a very efficient after sales service of a Toyota. The hybrid petrol engine is expected to increase the average fuel efficiency and engine refinement. However, for a diesel version, you would have to prefer the Suzuki Baleno only, as there is no diesel Glanza currently on offer.
